Why I Can't Stand Zooey Deschanel

I while back, on Facebook, I posted a list of reasons I hated Zooey Deschanel. I thought I’d republish it here.

1 - First off, she is a petulant, absent-minded faux-innocent, ukelele playing punk ass.

2 - Zooey has no personality. Here is proof.

3 - She is possibly the most annoying actress right now. This is how I always picture her, as a caricature.

4 - The two things above means that she can’t act. Even when given good characters, she doesn’t bring any additional depth to them. Example: 500 Days of Summer. Good movie, great character, horribly performed. As opposed to someone like Charlize Theron or Hilary Swank.

5 - She can’t sing. Her voice sucks any life out of the songs she sings. Here she is singing a boring ass version of the national anthem: Does it get anymore boring. Compare that to versions from people like Marvin Gaye or Jim Cornelious or Whitney Houston.

6 - Her new show is her playing her ditzy shallow self, a person that has been cheated on with her boyfriend and because she has no raison d’être with out a man, she moves into the Zoolander apartment. While doing this the show—and her by extension—manage to reinforce nearly every negative stereo type about men and women.

7 - Her wide-eyed, vacant look is off-putting. When I look at her eyes I get the feeling she has no soul.

8 - She seems to be as engaging as hotel stationary. Watching movies or TV with her in it is painful. She sucks the life from scenes.

9 - Ben Gibbard once said that he’d rather make great records than great relationships, and what would you know: Him and Zooey’s marriage is over.”

I am one of those 62 million users, but I am also one of the untold number of inactive users. That is the important number. The number of active members seems to be a question Google is uninterested in answering.

360 Unranked People Under 30, Lazily Organized into 12 Undifferentiated Categories:

This Forbes 30 Under 30 smacks of lazy editorial. First, there are 360 people covered here, not 30. Second, these people are not even ranked from least disruptive/innovative to most. Third, these categories are totally undifferentiated: “media”, social and media”, technology”, “music”. I thought music was media? What’s the difference between the “Media” category and the “Social & Media” category? And for that matter why isn’t “Social & Media” part of “Technology”. There are also a separate categories for “Science” and “Energy.” It’s as if nobody editorialized this list.
